Rebel Mexi-Cocoa Awarded Beer of Wakefield CAMRA Festival

Saturday 4 March 2017

On Saturday 4 March a party of the Wakefield Branch of CAMRA came down to Penryn to present a plaque to Rebel Brewery for Mexi-Cocoa Choc-Vanilla Stout which won the Beer of the Festival at the 2016 Wakefield Beer Festival on 13-15 October.

The CAMRA party was welcomed to Rebel Brewery by Stephen Trezona – Director, Shirley Cormack-Trezona – Director and Matt Pascoe – Head Brewer. The brewery provided us with cask of Penryn Pale Ale which we endeavoured to consume plus some taster samples of bottled Rebel beers and excellent pasties for which we were very grateful.

The presentation photo shows Wakefield CAMRA Chairman Albert Bradbury with Brewer Matt Pascoe.

Wakefield Branch was represented by Albert Bradbury – Chairman, Mark Goodair – Secretary, Mark Gibson – Newsletter Editor/Festival Organiser and a number of other branch officers and members.

Cornwall Branch was represented by Rod Davis – Pubs Officer, Steve Barber – NBSS Coordinator, Chris Mason – Advertisement Coordinator, Vince Curtis, Maddie Davis and other branch members.

Before the presentation at Rebel, The Wakefield party, who flew from Leeds/Bradford Airport to Newquay, enjoyed a pub crawl of Newquay on the Friday evening with Cornwall members Bob Bunce – Chairman, Sonia Bunce – Press Officer and Steve Wilmott – Newsletter Editor/Membership Secretary.

After the presentation at Rebel, the Wakefield and Cornwall members did a crawl of the Seven Stars, Beerwolf Books and ‘Front in Falmouth. Finally we returned by train to Truro for a pint in the Old Ale House before the Wakefield members returned to Newquay by minibus.
