Cider Pub of the Year Presentation 2017

Saturday 13 May 2017

On Saturday 13th May Cornwall CAMRA visited the Stable Bar at Fistral beach to present manager Dan Rollerson and his dedicated team with the Cornwall CAMRA cider pub of the year award. Presenting the award on behalf of Cornwall CAMRA were Linda Dopson, the branch cider representative and Vince Curtis, branch deputy chairman.

Cornwall CAMRA has 1,250 members and every member had the opportunity to select their favourite cider pub, from these nominations a short list of the three most popular pubs was drawn up. This year these were Beerwolf Books, Falmouth, Red Lion, Newquay and the Stable Bar, Newquay. These three were visited anonymously by a panel of judges who unanimously selected the Stable Bar as Cornwall’s champion, a great pub in a stunning location.

The Stable Bar will now go forward to the South West regional competition where they will be up against pubs from Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Dorset, Somerset and Devon. Everyone and all at Cornwall CAMRA would like to wish them the very best of luck.

After the presentation, Stable had organized a tutored cider tasting run by Dave Rowe and Matt Adams which was thoroughly enjoyed by all, Matt had even made a cider of his own. Throughout the day we were kept nourished by some excellent food, many thanks to Dan and his team for the wonderful hospitality.
