St Austell Brewery Tour & Food Pairing

Saturday 27 January 2018

St Austell Brewery Tour with Beer and Food Pairing

The day started in the visitors centre and Hicks Bar where we all sampled a couple of pre tour beers.

There were nearly forty Kernow CAMRA members so we split into two groups one lead by Roger and Tony the other by Julie and Glen.

We learnt the history of St Austell brewery which was created by Walter Hicks back in 1851 and the brewery has been in the family ever since.

We toured all areas of the brewery which included the small batch, fermenting, mashing, racking and hop store.

After the tour the two groups met up and enjoyed an afternoon of beer and food pairing.

We tasted nine different beers and food and it was surprising how a piece of cheese or lemon tart can change the taste of the beer.

A great day was had by all. On behalf of Kernow CAMRA I would like to say thank you to St Austell brewery for hosting the day for us.
