November branch meeting and pub visits.

Saturday 19 November 2016

Saturday 19th November branch meeting and pub visits.

It was a great turnout of nearly fifty Kernow CAMRA members for the branch meeting which was held at The Bell Inn Launceston. The members traveled from all over the county and Roger the branches transport secretary arranged for a coach to pick up lots of the beer thirsty members at St Austell train station.

The coach then drove up to Launceston for a rewarding beer and they were not disappointed. Ivor & Lynda, the landlord and landlady had six beers on and all around £3:00 a pint. The meeting started at 12:30 with lots of interesting discussions, if you would like to see the topics discussed please download the meeting minutes and committee reports. The we had a few more beers and we were treated to a lovely lunch provided by the landlord and landlady. Myself and most of the members were also privileged to be able to give Elliott one of the pubs cats a good stroke, great for stress relief.

After the meeting we all got back on the coach and headed to The Caradon at Upton Cross who had also put on a great range of beers. One of the members had the bright idea to phone ahead to the pub and ordered the beers. This was great as lots of beer was lined up on the bar when we all arrived which meant the beer enthusias did not have to wait to sample a great pint.

Then to finish the day we moved on to The Manor at Rilla Mill again there was a interesting range of beers which were very well kept and went down well. The pub had a very large open fire which was a lovely treat on a cold day.

The coach drove us back to St Austell to catch trains and buses home. On behalf of Kernow CAMRA I would like to say thank you to The Bell, The Caradon and The Manor for their warm hospitality. Also thank you to First for providing us with a coach and a great driver. A great day was had by all.

Cheers to Roger.
