Wednesday Walkabouts

Wednesday 10 May 2017

Fellow CAMRA Members, let me introduce myself – I’m Ann and I have just taken over as the new Social Secretary for CAMRA Kernow for the coming year. I am sharing this post with Roger Webster and in starting this exciting post we are brimming over with ideas for our Cornwall Branch to get together over a pint or two throughout the coming year.

Wednesday Walkabouts One of our first ideas is the new Wednesday Walkabouts. These are what they say on the pint pot – to misquote a famous phrase - to go out for a relaxed informal fun evening, walking round a town or village, visiting the pubs on the way. The walk won’t be long or strenuous! Just enough to get you to the next pub.

Let’s Go to the Pub! The idea is to enjoy the evenings throughout the summer months in visiting a few pubs in villages or towns locally. Everyone is welcome! The details of the date, rendezvous time and pubs to visit will be listed in the CAMRA diary dates. We are linking these Walkabouts in with public transport to the town or village. Keep an eye on the diary because some of the start times may vary according to the public transport availability. If you want to arrive earlier than the published time, we will see you there at the arranged time! We will also be looking at the possibility of arranging group taxis back to the nearest railway or bus station so that you can relax and enjoy the evening whilst knowing you can still get home at the end of the evening! If you are at work then you can text us as you arrive in the town and we can let you know where we are and you can catch up!

Whatpub & Scoring We are hoping that you will score the beers as you visit each pub using Whatpub. We would like to increase the amount of scores Cornwall CAMRA members record and this gives you a great opportunity to visit pubs you may not have been to before, chat about your beer and then score it.

All Welcome! I realise that it may not be easy for everyone to go to each event. The idea is to spread these evenings out across Cornwall and enjoy different places, different pubs and their beer. If you are able to come to one near you then we will be delighted to see you. If you can make all of them, even better!

Wednesday Walkabout Mild Month of May The First Wednesday Walkabout is in Falmouth and is a Mild Month Walkabout (or A Maritime Mild Month Meander as it was named by Simon Treherne as we planned the trip!) Several pubs in Falmouth have agreed to serve a Mild (or maybe two!) for this event. We are starting in The ‘front at 4.00pm. Bring your fish and chips into the pub with you and start our first Walkabout with a pint of Mild.

Look out for the walker logo on the Diary Dates to see where the Wednesday Walkabout is taking place, and come along and join us! We look forward to seeing you throughout the summer months. Please let us know if you are coming along to any of the Walkabouts by emailing Ann at ku.gro.armac.llawnroc@ceslaicos
