Formerly a court house, coaching inn and the haunt of smugglers, the bars have changed little since those days, and the pub is supposed to harbour an imprisoned ghost. This ancient and friendly hostelry offers slate/stone floors, log fires in winter, four-poster beds and a genuine olde-worlde traditional atmosphere. In the pub's court house days, hangings took place in a special field nearby. There is a function room for hire and a large car park to the front of the pub.
